In this 5-week course, you’ll learn four techniques for creating unique patchwork projects. The first four classes will focus on learning and applying each individual skill, and on the fifth class you’ll put them all together to create a gorgeous wall-hanging! Each square you make highlights a different technique.
Week 1: English Paper Piecing Hexies: this hand-sewing technique is quick to learn, but takes time to complete. You’ll learn how to do it on the first day, then continue to work on this square as homework throughout the rest of the course.
Week 2: Appliqué
Learn how to create a textile image by layering fabric pieces!
Week 3: Reverse Appliqué
This skill also uses several layers of fabric, but is unique in that you cut out the shapes after the layers are stitched together.
Week 4: Foundation Paper Piecing
This paper-piecing technique is almost magical; tiny precise details are added in such a simple and straightforward way, you’ll be amazed!
Week 5: Time to put all those pretty squares together! Batting and backing are added, then the layers are quilted together and bound to make a gorgeous wall-hanging!
